Important information: new trick question during the registration on the “corridor”

When you enter Slovenia there is a questionary asking: „Why do you want to go to Germany?” There are four answers that you can choose:
  1. War
  2. Study
  3. Religious reasons
  4. Family reunification
  5. Job

Only if you choose: ‘1. war’  you are allowed travel on to Germany or Austria. Otherwise they will send you back to Croatia.

Possibly, they also ask you this question in an oral interview. It is no longer enough that you say you want to ask for asylum in Germany or Austria, you also have to say the reason is war. Also the translaters (who are serving the police)  ask from which area people are, so its not enough to mention the country (Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria) but also to mention that you are from an area (!) where there is (armed) conflict.

It is possible that this new question will be asked on earlier border crossings, such as when entering Croatia, Serbia or Macedonia.
